In accordance with Section 5 and 6 of the Occupational Safety Act, employers are obliged to determine and document hazards resulting from activities or at the workplace, as well as the occupational health and safety measures derived from same. To provide assistance with this evaluation, various groups such as the German professional association for raw materials and the chemical industry (Berufsgenossenschaft Rohstoffe und chemische Industrie) provide hazard and exposure catalogues which contain both possible hazards as well as measures which can be taken.
