The risk assessment is one of the obligations of employers in order to assess risks and take appropriate measures. A general description of the assessment is provided in the Occupational Safety Act Section 5 and the associated documentation in Section 6. The risk assessment consists of several parts:

  • Identification of possible hazards
  • Risk assessment of hazards
  • Measures to be taken
  • Effectiveness review of measures

The requirements for risk assessments are further specified for different work areas, e.g. Ordinance on Hazardous Substances, Workplace Ordinance, Ordinance on Biological Substances. Corresponding regulations exist for the implementation of the assessments, such as series 400 of the TRGS or ASR V3.
